Do I need a doctor's order for hormone testing?
No. You can order hormone testing yourself. No doctor's order and no referral are needed, and you can take the results to any provider you like.
What is included in your thyroid panel?
Our thyroid panel covers T3 Uptake, T4, TSH, Thyrox and Free T4 together, because a single thyroid number on its own rarely tells the whole story.
Do I need to fast before hormone testing?
Some hormone tests read differently depending on the time of day or whether you have eaten. Call us with the test you want and we will tell you how to prepare and when to come in.
What is the difference between free and total testosterone?
Total testosterone measures the overall amount in your blood, while free testosterone measures the portion that is unbound and available to your body. Many people run both together for a fuller picture.
Should I get hormone testing or a wellness panel?
Hormone testing targets a specific concern such as thyroid or testosterone. A wellness panel is a broad yearly screen across several systems. If you already know what you are chasing, hormone testing is the better fit.
Can you draw my blood at home?
Yes. We offer Home Draws for patients who cannot make it to the lab in Pharr. Call us to ask about setting one up.
